General
Head and Assistant Coaches will be volunteers recommended to us by high school coaches or Directors in the Crossover Elite program. All coaches will be certified through an online certification process and background checks will be completed on coaches. Most of our Crossover Elite coaches have experience leading high school programs.
Crossover Elite Basketball teams will participate in the CNR Basketball league. Approximately 75% of our games will be played in the St. Charles County area. During the Winter session of CNR, we will play most of our St. Charles County games at the Lombardo All-American Athlete Center. You can expect 25% of our games to be played in West County or South County.
Everything starts with the mission and purpose behind Crossover Elite’s parent organization in All-American Athlete.
Many of the “for profit” clubs are structured in a way to limit the number of team practices for the purpose of marketing separate “skills training” sessions. Crossover Elite will be welcoming players into the gym 2-3 times per week for practice and skills training. So where the typical club experience might include 10-15 practice opportunities, Crossover Elite will be providing players 40 practice opportunities during a typical winter session. The increased time in the gym under the guidance of Crossover Elite trainers and coaches is of considerable value to the development of the athlete.
Crossover Elite will be teaching concepts and skills that will translate to high school basketball. This includes playing in a style that will allow youth players an opportunity to develop the fundamentals needed for success at the high school level. As an example, teams at the younger grade levels will be taught how to play man to man defense in lieu of playing zone defenses. As players mature they will then be introduced to playing a variety of defenses exposing them to different concepts.
Crossover Elite will have multiple teams at most grade levels. Teams will be ranked to provide the appropriate challenge to the participating athletes.
Typically, the more competitive team will be ranked 6 to 9 in the CNR Basketball league. The second team will be ranked 4 to 6. If there is a 3rd team a a grade level, it is likely ranked 2 to 4.
Players participating in the Winter session are expected to attend all practices and games. We understand there will be reasons to miss (holiday vacation travel, etc.), but players participating on a Winter team are expected to prioritize basketball practices ahead of their out of season sports (baseball, soccer, etc.)
Players participating in the Spring, Summer and Fall sessions are expected to attend at least 1 practice per week and most games. We encourage multi-sport participation and understand basketball might not be the top priority during the traditional spring, summer and fall sports season.
Crossover Elite is a select basketball club under the All-American Athlete umbrella and will work alongside Northstar Basketball.
Crossover Elite teams will practice 2x per week whereas most Northstar teams will practice 1x per week. Crossover Elite teams will play more games during a typical season as compared to a Northstar team at the same grade level.
Practices and games are included in the season fees. Players will also be required to purchase a uniform for approximately $50. We use Instant Imprints in WingHaven to handle all of our uniform needs. If a player already has a Crossover Elite uniform, they aren’t required to purchase a new one.
Yes, if your child is in 3rd grade and wants to try and make a 4th grade team they are welcome to do so. Depending on the number of players we have at various grade levels, there’s a chance we can offer a 3rd grade team. But we normally start at 4th grade to ensure we have enough space to accommodate our 4th – 8th grade teams.
Teams will be formed with the objective of aligning skill sets allowing the players to compete against appropriate levels of competition. The goal is always to provide players an opportunity to grow as individuals and members of a team and this is best accomplished when all players on the team can contribute in a meaningful way during game play.
Teams will average one game per weekend as part of the CNR Basketball league. Older teams (Grades 6 – High School) will occasionally play more league games than the younger teams.
Teams will participate in most of the tournaments hosted by CNR Basketball. Our more competitive teams will also participate in tournaments hosted by Premier Hoops or RecruitLook. Should a team be interested in traveling to an out of area tournament families will be consulted before committing.
